Check out this simple step-by-step guide to clean the filters in your air conditioner.
Clean the filter once in two months and get your AC serviced at least once a year.
Step 1:
Firstly, switch off the power source. Then, if you have a window-mounted AC, pop the front face of the unit using a putty knife and in case you have a wall-mounted unit, slide the front panel off, to access the filters.
Step 2:
Remove the filters and look for specific wear and tear. If you spot any, just replace the filters. If not, then carefully remove them and place them on the floor.

Step 3:
Use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of dirt and dust stuck on the filters.
Step 4:
Fill a big bucket with equal proportions of water and vinegar. Submerge the filters inside the bucket and use a sponge to clean the stubborn grime. Let the filters soak in this solution for an hour.

Step 5:
Remove the filters and place them on a clean towel so that any excess solution is absorbed by the towel. Let them dry for a while and then wipe them with a towel. Make sure you don’t rinse them.
Step 6:
Fit the filters back into the AC and re-assemble the panel.
