Step 2:

Put some bait at the end of the tube and place the tube on a higher surface like a table, with the bait at the end of the tube placed over the edge.

Step 3:

Put the large bucket below the bait side of the tube and pour a little bit of oil into the bucket.

Step 4:

Wait for the rat to run through the tube and fall into the bucket. Since the bucket is oily, the rat will not be able to get out.

Step 5:

Take the bucket and release the rat far away from the house, to make sure it does not return.

After dealing with the problem, it is time to thoroughly clean the kitchen.

Use a disinfectant or diluted bleach, like Domex, to clean all your kitchen surfaces, and any place that the mice or rats may have been to. Make sure to follow the instructions on the label.

After that, empty all the cupboards and wipe every surface and corner. Clean behind and under appliances, and lastly mop the floors well. Do not forget to wear protective clothing, like gloves, if you are dealing with bleach.

Key steps:

  1. Deal with any rodent problem immediately by setting up a mouse or rat trap.

  2. Clean and disinfect all surfaces after removing the rodent.
