Hard water isn’t better than soft and soft water isn’t always the preferred option either. Both have their benefits and flaws.

Hard water

Prefer washing your clothes in soft water as hard water can ruin the fabrics.

Prefer washing clothes in soft water

It contains a high concentration of dissolved minerals, such as calcium or magnesium. In its pure form, water does not contain hard water minerals. When water passes through various sources and pipelines, it tends to pick up various elements, such as limestone. Hard water is preferred for drinking sometimes, not just because of the minerals but also for the taste.

Soft water

Soft water lacks mineral taste

Soft water contains few or no extra chemicals. A normal water purifier can eradicate these chemicals. Soft water lacks the mineral taste of hard water and does not leave any residue on the skin, dishes or appliances. Washing clothes in soft water keeps your clothes brighter. Also, sinks, tubs, showers, faucets and other bathroom fittings do not get stained due to the water. Soft water does not cause scale build-up of other chemicals in pipes and plumbing fixtures.
