Brass showpieces can add a unique statement to your home décor. But they need to be properly maintained to prevent them from losing their sheen. With these amazing surface cleaning tips, you can easily enhance the look of your brass artefacts. What’s more, your house will look a lot more inviting, and your guests will leave impressed with your unique, artistic taste.
So, here are some safe and easy tips to keep your brass artefacts gleaming.
1) Use Toothpaste
Apply a small amount of toothpaste on a piece of soft cloth. Rub it on the entire surface of your brass artefact. When done, wipe with a damp sponge. Finally, take another clean soft cloth and wipe dry.
2) Use Ketchup
Ketchup works as a natural cleanser as the mild acidity in tomatoes removes tarnishes and dirt from brass. Rub ketchup on the brass surface with a soft cloth, thoroughly rinse with warm water and wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.

3) Use Vinegar and Flour
Make a paste of vinegar, flour and water, 2 tbsp. each. Apply this thick mixture on the entire surface of the brass item and wait for it to dry completely. Vinegar will dissolve the dense dirt and flour will absorb it. Use a soft cloth to remove the dried layer. Wash with soap and water, and immediately pat dry with another clean, soft cloth.
4) Use Lime Juice
Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle it with salt. Rub the salted lemon over the brass surface. Once you’ve covered the entire surface with the lemon juice and salt mixture, wipe with a soft cloth and buff. It will bring back the shine of your artefact.
Use any of the above tips to restore the shine of your prized brass artefacts.
