
A sports trophy serves as evidence of the victory of your talent, skill or intelligence. You bring it home with pride and display it so you can cherish it forever. But with time, your trophy could lose its lustre. It might look dull or tarnished. With some highly useful cleaning tips and tricks, you can keep your trophies shiny and spotless.
In this article, we tell you how to clean the trophies made of silver, gold, bronze, brass and glass. Here we go!
1) Silver and Gold Trophies
To clean your silver and gold plated trophies, fill ½ a bucket with warm water. Add 2 tsp. of dishwashing liquid and mix well. Dampen a clean soft sponge in this solution and start cleaning the trophy to remove the dirt. Rinse it well and dry with a microfibre cloth. Drain the cleaning solution. Now refill the bucket with warm water and add 2 tsp. of baking soda. Place your trophies in it and wait 15-20 minutes. It will clear the tarnish and remaining dirt. Rinse with plain water and pat dry with a microfibre cloth.
2) Bronze and Brass Trophies
In a bowl, squeeze a lemon and add 2 tsp. of baking soda. Mix well with a spoon. You will notice the solution fizz. Once it settles down in a couple of minutes, keep mixing the solution till it turns into a paste. Use a soft-bristled brush to apply the paste on your bronze or brass trophies. Gently rub it. Wait for 15 minutes and rinse with plain water. Pat dry with a microfibre cloth. Repeat the process to remove the remaining dirt. Finally, rub a few drops of olive oil over the surface of your trophy with your fingers to restore its shine.

3) Glass Trophies
Start by removing the loose dirt on your glass trophies with a soft cloth. You could also use a blow dryer on cool setting to clear it. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove the dirt stuck in the corners. Now make a cleaning solution by mixing 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid and 2 tsp. of vinegar in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth in this solution and gently wipe the entire surface. Rinse with plain water and pat dry with a microfibre cloth.
