A pair of well-polished leather shoes or boots can instantly amp up your style quotient and give you a sharp look. However, leather shoes require maintenance or else they develop faded spots and wrinkles.
If you’re looking for some cleaning tips, you’re in the right place. With regular care and maintenance, you can keep your leather shoes in top condition.
Try this simple 5-step process to make your leather shoes look their best.
Step 1: Make Your Cleaning Solution
Take a bowl of water, add 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid to it and stir well.

Step 2: Rub with a Cloth
Dip a soft cloth in the solution and gently start rubbing it in a circular motion on the shoe. Remember to not rub hard as this could damage the leather.
Step 3: Wipe Dry
Take another clean, dry cloth and wipe away the solution smoothly.
Step 4: Scrub Again
Dip an old toothbrush in the cleaning solution and scrub the outsole of the shoe to clean the dirt. Once you’re done, clean it with a soft cloth and allow your shoes to air-dry.
Step 5: Use Shoe Polish
Take some shoe polish, buff the shoe with a clean cloth, and use a shoe brush to get the required shine. You could also make your own shoe polish. Mix 1 tsp. of vinegar and 2 tsp. of linseed oil (also known as flaxseed oil) in a cup and mix well. Use a soft-bristled brush to apply this on your leather shoes. A few seconds after the application, buff it with a soft cloth. This will make your leather shoes shine!
Key Step:
Always keep a couple of microfibre cloths handy while cleaning your leather shoes.
