If the speaker in your phone is not delivering the quality of sound it gave when it was new, you probably need to spare some time for cleaning it. On using regularly, the speaker’s surface attracts dirt and dust. And if you avoid cleaning it for a longer time, the layers of dust can get caked on and penetrate into the surface. This prevents the speakers from working at their highest potential. You need not worry. While cleaning your phone is like a breeze, cleaning your phone’s speaker area needs more attention and care as it is a delicate component. If you clean it on a timely basis, you will be able to prevent the dirt from getting into the speaker.

Why You Should Clean Your Phone Speaker Regularly

Cleaning your phone’s speaker area regularly means preventing the dirt from penetrating into the surface. If you overlook the need to clean it from time to time, the stubborn, caked on dust may cause the phone’s audio to stop working. You may also start facing the audio problems during phone calls.

While cleaning this delicate part of your phone may seem tricky, in this article, we will tell you how you can do it methodically.

  3. Step 3: Use a Toothbrush

Once the phone is switched off, you can start the cleaning. You will need a toothbrush that has soft bristles. This could even be an old toothbrush that has already been used, however, make sure it's clean first! If you have your child’s spare toothbrush, you can use that too as children’s toothbrushes are softer.

Step 3: Non-gel toothpaste to remove ink stain
  4. Step 4: Brush the Speaker Port

Check your phone to locate the speaker port. Using the toothbrush, scrub it gently. When you clean phone speakers, remember not to scrub harshly because if the bristles enter inside, they can cause damage to your phone. Simply brush lightly to remove dirt particles.

  5. Step 5: Shake Gently

After you have cleaned the dirt particles, gently shake your phone to loosen any leftover dirt.

  6. Step 6: Wipe Your Phone

Finally, wipe your phone clean to make sure no loose dust remains on the surface. Take a damp cloth to do this. You can even add a drop of dishwashing liquid to some water, dip your cloth in this mixture and then wipe your phone. Our preferred choice is Vim Dishwash Gel, which is easily available in the market. Do not wipe your phone with a dripping wet cloth; make sure you squeeze the cloth properly before touching it to your phone surface.

  8. Step 8: Clean the Headphone Jack

If you find dirt in your headphone jack and want to clean it, we will give you an easy tip. Simply take a thin cotton bud and slightly push it inside the hole. Now, spin it to remove dirt from all the sides of the hole. Take out the cotton swab. This will remove most dirt. If there is any leftover dirt, repeat the step once again. Remember to not jam the cotton bud tightly inside the hole.

Method 2: Using Tape

  1. Step 1: Get Your Hands on Some Tape

Take a small piece of tape and roll it to form the shape of a cylinder. Make sure the sticky side is facing out.

    Step 1: tape
  2. Step 2: Place the Tape over Your Phone Speaker

Press the tape onto your phone speaker. The sticky side of the tape attracts most of the piled up dirt in and around your speakers.

  3. Step 3: Repeat

Remember to change the piece of tape as it gets dirty. Repeat the step until you see no dirt on the tape. That indicates most of the dirt is removed.

Maintaining the Audio Technology

Remember to avoid keeping your phone in humid temperatures such as in a bathroom. When moisture collects around your phone’s speakers, its audio quality eventually degrades. Try to clean the area around your phone’s speaker with a lint-free cloth regularly to keep dust particles or moisture away. Also, use a good quality phone case to protect it against dirt and dust.

There you go! Even if you do not experience any problem with the sound quality of your phone’s speaker, it is a good idea to clean it once in a week. This keeps the dirt from layering up. Because, when the dirt gets layered up into your phone, it can cause damage in the long run.

So, follow the methods given above to clean your speakers often and enjoy getting the best sound quality from your phone.
