All it takes is one clumsy spill to mar the beauty of your wooden dining table. If you leave the stains unattended, you might end up discolouring the table, and you don’t want that. Don’t worry, here’s a step-by-step guide to nipping the problem in the bud.

Step 1:

First, blot the curry stains on your table with paper towels. Wipe off any curry powder residue that remains with another clean paper towel.

Step 2:

Pour 2 cups of warm water in a bowl. Add ¼ cup of white vinegar and 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid to it to make a solution. The vinegar’s acidic properties will help cut through the grease and the dishwashing liquid will help remove the stains from the table.

Step 3:

Dip a clean sponge in this solution. Squeeze the sponge to remove excess moisture and use it to wipe the stain.

Step 4:

Rinse the sponge after the curry stain lifts off. Then add another 1 tbsp. each of vinegar and dishwashing liquid to the solution and continue to scrub the remaining stain with the sponge.

Step 5:

Rinse out the solution from the stained portion of your wooden table with clean water. Then dampen a clean cloth with water and wipe the surface till all the cleaning solution comes off.

Step 6:

Let your wooden table air-dry.

A wooden table can set the mood for a fun brunch or intimate dinner. And if you happen to drop gravy on it, take immediate steps to prevent permanent discolouration. A good rule to remember is that you have to act fast!
