Woollen clothes do a great job of keeping you warm and cosy when the temperature dips in the winter. Wool is a breathable fabric. To get the best return on your investment, you must take extra care of your woollens.

Here are some simple tips to maintain your woollen clothes.

1) Avoid Ironing

Wool is a delicate material and can get scorched if exposed to heat. We suggest you avoid using an iron directly on your woollens. Check if your iron has a wool setting. If it doesn’t, place a cotton cloth between the woollen garment and the iron. This will prevent your woollen garments from burns and damage.

2) Brush After Use

Woollen clothes easily attract dust and are vulnerable to moths. We suggest you gently brush your woollen clothes with a garment brush.

3) Avoid Sunlight

After washing, air-dry your woollen clothes at room temperature. Exposing them to direct sunlight can damage your woollen garments.

4) Don’t Hang After Wash

Wool absorbs water. If dried on a hanger, the moisture will weigh it down and cause the garment to lose shape. Lay a clean towel on a flat surface and place your washed woollen garment on it. Allow it to air-dry.

5) Spot Clean

If you find a stain on your woollen garments, blot it with a paper towel. But be careful not to rub the stain as this will cause it to penetrate deeper into the fabric. After blotting, take 2-3 drops of mild detergent and rub on the stain. Gently rinse with plain water.

6) Turn Inside-Out

Before washing your woollen garments, turn them inside-out. This will protect the colour from fading.

7) Use Mild Detergent

Are you confused about how to wash woollen clothes? Whether you’re hand-washing or machine-washing your woollen clothes, we recommend lukewarm or cold water and a mild detergent. You should also try and get the best laundry detergent for wool in the market.

8) Use Neem Leaves

Neem is a moth repellent and is useful for keeping woollen clothes insect-free. Keep a handful of neem leaves in storage along with your   woollen clothes.

These effective tips will make your woollen garments last longer!
