Denim is a staple in most wardrobes. Whether you’ve just bought a pair of denim jeans or already have a few, you need to take good care for them to last a long time. We have listed a few amazing tips to help you out with this!

1) Avoid Frequent Washing

Avoid washing your denim often. Washing them frequently will cause the colour to fade and also affect the shape of your denim. We suggest you wash your denims only after you have used them 4-5 times. When washing, add 1 cup of vinegar; this will help retain the brightness of your denim.

2) Turn Them Inside-Out

Turn your denims inside-out when you wash them and always wash in cold water. This will prevent them from losing colour.

3) Use Less Detergent or Try an Alternative

If you’re using a detergent, use a lesser quantity than you usually do for other clothes. You can also use alternatives such as vinegar. Mix ½ a cup of vinegar with 1 tsp. of salt in a bowl. Now, add this solution directly to the wash cycle. If you’re washing your clothes in the machine, we suggest you use Surf Excel Matic Liquid, as it easily dissolves in water and leaves no residue. It is an effective liquid laundry detergent. This will help preserve the colour of your denims, brighten them and keep them smelling fresh.

4) Try Freezing

This is an amazing trick to remove any odour-causing bacteria from your denim. Pack your denims in an airtight bag and freeze it overnight. This will deodorise your denims. Don’t worry; doing this won’t cause any harm to the edible items in your refrigerator.

5) Try Air-Drying

After washing, avoid drying your denims in the dryer. The heat in the dryer can damage the fibres and shrink them. It can also cause the colour to fade. Instead, try air-drying. This is your best bet to increase the life expectancy of your denim. Gently squeeze out excess water and place it on a flat surface, preferably over a dry towel.

The above tips are going to be extremely useful in preserving your denims and making them last longer!
