Whether you are wearing your suit to a wedding or a meeting, you not only want it to fall well but also to smell pleasant. The important thing to remember is to always hang your suit out to dry after you’ve worn it. This airing can banish sweat odours. Once your suit has aired, you can try these simple tips to make your suit smell great.
Hang your potpourri sachet or the pomander at a 5-6-inch distance from your suit so it doesn’t come in contact with it.
1) Potpourri Sachets
Potpourri is one of the best ways to make your suit smell good in storage. To make your own potpourri sachets, combine a few cloves, cinnamon sticks, dried flower petals, fennel seeds and dried sage leaves; you can also add vanilla beans as they are a great powder-free alternative to add fragrance. Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add this mixture to a mesh bag, and hang or place the potpourri sachet in your wardrobe to keep your suit fresh. This lasts several months.
2) Pomander
Pomanders are fragrant, natural fresheners. These can also be used to keep your suit smelling great while in storage. To make a pomander, you will need an orange and some cloves. Poke holes with a toothpick all around the fruit. Push a whole clove into each hole. Wrap the fruit in a paper towel and store it in a cool, dry place for 3-4 weeks to dry. Once dry, you can wrap it in a muslin or linen cloth and hang it in your closet with your suit.

3) Essential Oils
Create a mixture comprising ½ cup of water and 5-6 drops of your favourite essential oil. Take some cotton balls and soak them in this mixture. Once the cotton balls have soaked up the mixture, place them in a mesh bag. Hang this bag in your closet which has your suit and your garment will smell fresh the next time you take it out.
