Step 4: Wring

Wring out the water.

Step 5: Wrap in a Towel

To remove the remaining water, lay a clean towel on a flat surface and spread your shawl on it. Wrap it, wait for 5 minutes, and then unwrap it.

Step 6: Air-Dry

Now lay another clean towel on a flat surface and place the shawl on it. Let it air-dry.

Machine-Washing Your Shawl

Check your woollen shawl’s care label to ascertain that you can machine-wash it.

Step 1: Soak

Take ½ a bucket of lukewarm water, add 2 tsp. of mild laundry detergent and soak your shawl in this solution for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Wash

Fill your washer with lukewarm water, drop your woollen shawl in it and run a gentle wash cycle. If you have a wool setting in your washing machine, use it. You can also add 1 tsp. of fabric softener to the wash cycle to avoid friction. This will also make your woollen shawls smell fresh.

Step 3: Wrap in a towel

When the cycle is complete, take out the shawl and wrap it in a clean towel. This will soak the water.

Step 4: Air-Dry

Now lay another clean towel on a flat surface and put your shawl on it.

Allow it to air-dry.

You can use these methods for your shawls made of different kinds of fibre including Angora and acrylic shawls.
