Dogs love open spaces. So, the backyard naturally becomes your dog's favourite hangout space. You can make a kennel for your dog and place it in the garden for it to enjoy comfortable afternoon naps. However, you can't ignore cleaning up your backyard. During playtime, your dog may have run over a few saplings, which may need your immediate attention. If you don't get at the top of this, your garden will quickly become a pile of dead leaves and dog poo.

Maintain the cleanliness and beauty of your garden using the tips given below.

1) Follow a Cleaning Schedule

Dog poop contains harmful bacteria and parasites. It can be potentially hazardous for your family. If it is not cleaned daily, your home will have a lingering foul odour. Clean up after your dog every day using a pooper scooper or disposable bags. Wear protective gloves while lifting your dog's waste to avoid direct contact. Wash the gloves thoroughly using an effective dishwashing liquid.

2) Maintain Separate Dustbins

Use a separate dustbin for your backyard. Do not discard bird droppings, dead leaves or dog waste in your home and put them in the kitchen dustbin.

3) Survey the Plants Daily

Your dog won't confess to running over a sapling in your backyard garden. So, inspect the plants yourself. Check the health and environment of your plants at least twice a week to maintain your backyard garden.

4) Clean Dog Urine

You must train your dog to relieve itself in the designated area of your backyard. But, even then you'll have to clean up. If you have artificial grass in your yard, you can use plain water to wash off dog urine. However, if there's a foul odour, prepare a cleaning solution. Mix 4-5 drops of dishwashing liquid with warm water in a bowl. Add 2 tbsp. of vinegar in the soapy solution and spray the concoction over the affected area. Scrub gently and wash it off with plain water. After cleaning, you can also disinfect the area for better hygiene. You can use products such as Domex Multipurpose Disinfectant Spray. It contains Sodium Hypochlorite as recommended by leading health organisations for disinfecting surfaces. It kills germs on frequently touched surfaces and protects against infection causing germs. Always test on a small hidden area first and follow instructions on the pack for usage and compatible surfaces.

It's all worth it for your loyal friend.
