Ingredients to Keep Handy:
a) Paper towels
b) Cotton cloth
c) Vinegar
d) Baking soda or baby powder
e) Dishwashing liquid
f) Sponge
g) Warm water
h) Detergent powder
i) Fabric conditioner
Step 1: Blot the Stain
Soak the coffee stains from your blanket using paper towels. You can also use a dry cotton cloth for this. But do not scrub the stain, as it will only spread further.
Step 2: Treat the Stain
Prepare a stain-treating solution. Dampen the stained area and sprinkle some baking soda over the stain. Allow it to settle for 20-25 minutes. Then blot it away with a paper towel. You can also try baby powder as an alternative to baking soda and follow the same cleansing step. If the stain persists, take 1 cup of warm water and add 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid along with 1 tbsp. of white vinegar to it. Mix well. Use the solution on the stained areas of your blanket and let it rest for 15 minutes. Now, dampen a sponge with warm water and wipe off the stained area of your blanket with it. The coffee stains should disappear. However, if you can still see some residue stain, repeat the process.
Step 3: Let it Dry
Now, leave the stained area of the blanket to air-dry. There's no need to hang your blanket out in the sun. Do not put your blanket to wash until you've treated the stain.
Step 4: Wash Your Blanket
Read the care label on your blanket and follow the wash instructions. Use an effective laundry detergent. If you prefer to hand wash your clothes, you can use a detergent powder such as Surf Excel Easy Wash. It is easily available in the market. You can use a fabric conditioner such as Comfort Core. It is easily available in the market. It keeps the fibres intact, thus making the fabric soft and smooth. It also adds a mild fragrance to the fabric.
