A countertop can uplift or bring down the aesthetics of your kitchen. So, you must keep it clean and shiny at all times. However, cooking, chopping and other chores result in food and oil stains on your countertop. Always keep some towels handy to blot the stains as soon as you spot them.

For cleaning dried up stains, follow the tips given below.

1) Warm Water and Dishwashing Liquid

Squeeze 3-4 drops of a dishwashing liquid in a bowl of warm water. Soak a sponge in the soapy solution and scrub your kitchen countertop with it. Wash off the foamy surface with a damp cloth. Finally, wipe the entire surface with a clean, dry rag. Residue moisture can lead to pest infestation. So always keep your kitchen countertop dry.

Remember never to use steel wool to scrub your granite countertop. It can ruin the smooth finish of the surface.

2) Kitchen Cleaner

You can use a commercial kitchen cleaner to clean your countertops thoroughly. You can clean your kitchen with a kitchen cleaner like Cif Kitchen Cleaner. Check the pack to understand the correct usage instructions. After cleaning, make sure the surfaces are completely dry before using it.

3) Baking Soda Paste

Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda in a bowl of water to form a paste. Apply the paste on the oily stains on your kitchen platform. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Now, gently scrub it off using a damp sponge.

Thoroughly wipe your kitchen platform clean after every cooking session to ensure there are no residue food crumbs on the surface.

4) Rub Olive Oil

To maintain the shiny finish of your granite countertop, pour a few drops of olive oil on a dry rag. Wipe your platform with it and buff the countertop with a separate cotton cloth. The olive oil will also help you seal the cracks in your granite platform.

Make your kitchen look inviting.
