A grinder is a heavily used appliance in practically all Indian kitchens. You depend on it to make your own special masalas and chutneys, along with a host of other things. However, if you don’t clean it regularly, it can result in an intermingling of flavours, which can in turn, change the flavour of the dish you’re cooking.
But don’t panic, we’re here to help you. We have a couple of tips to help you clean your grinders easily.
Step 1:
Prepare a solution using 2 tbsp. of vinegar and 1 cup of water. Make sure you mix it well. Next, pour this solution into the mixer container and run it for around 30 seconds.
Step 2:
Next, using lemon peels, clean the lid and other parts of the grinder. Let it rest for 15 minutes and wash with water thoroughly.

Step 3:
Fill the ¾th of the grinder with uncooked rice and give it a whirl. This will clear up the residue from under the blades. Then, wash the grinder under clean running water to remove any leftover dirt.
Step 4:
Use an old, clean brush or even a cloth to wipe down the grinder.
Step 5:
Check if all the stains have been removed. If not, you could repeat the process.
Clean your kitchen grinder once or twice every week to keep it fresh, shining and looking brand new.
There you have it! Cleaning your grinder is easy. If you follow these steps, every time you grind masala, you can be sure your dish will taste as authentic as you wanted!
