Hard water stains can be caused due to multiple reasons, like limescale build-up, mineral build-up or if your home has a hard water supply. Those stains can mar the look of your steel appliances. But why worry when you can remove them using ingredients easily available in your kitchen. In this article, we tell you how to remove those stubborn stains from your kitchen appliances.
Let’s get started.
Ingredients to Keep Handy:
a) Baking soda
b) White vinegar
c) Olive oil
d) Lemon juice
e) Microfibre cloth
f) Dishwashing liquid
g) Protective hand gloves
Step 1: Make a Cleaning Paste
To make your cleaning paste, combine ½ a cup of baking soda, ¼th of a cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of olive oil and 1 tbsp. of lemon juice in a bowl. Mix the ingredients well to create a fine paste. We recommend you mix these ingredients in your kitchen sink, as baking
soda and vinegar together can form bubbles. Make sure you wear rubber gloves while making this paste.
Step 2: Apply on the Hard Water Stains
Once the paste is ready, apply it on the stains or all over the surface using a microfibre cloth. Rub in the direction of the steel’s grain to avoid scratches. Make sure you don’t scrub, as baking soda is slightly abrasive. Allow the paste to rest on the stain for 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Wipe it Away
After 15 minutes, use a damp cotton cloth to wipe away the paste.
Step 4: Final Rinse
Now that you have removed the stains, give it a final rinse to remove any residue. Mix ½ a tsp. of dishwashing liquid in ½ a cup of warm water. We recommend Vim Dishwash Gel, which is easily available in the market.
There you go! Removing hard water stains from your beautiful steel appliances may have seemed tedious initially, but not any more!
