Porcelain dishes are fragile and must be handled with care. It is especially important to be careful while cleaning them. You can easily keep your crockery in mint condition if you follow our cleaning routine.

Hand-washing your porcelain or ceramic dishes is the safest way to clean them. But there are a few things you should keep in mind before you get started. Fluctuating temperatures can damage your crockery, so ensure that the water you’re using to wash and rinse your dishes in isn’t too hot. Also, avoid using harsh detergents or bleach.

You can clean your porcelain and ceramic plates using baking soda, or a combination of salt and vinegar. Here’s how.

Use Baking Soda

Step 1: Wear Protective Gloves

To avoid allergic reactions from chemicals in the detergent, wear protective gloves.

Step 2: Sprinkle Baking Soda

To remove oil stains and food marks from your dishes effortlessly, sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge. Now, rub this sponge gently over the stained dishes. Let this rest for about 5 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse With Water

Rinse your dishes under running tap water. Ensure that the flow of the water isn’t too strong.

Step 4: Wash With Dishwashing Liquid

Wash your dishes as you normally would with a mild detergent. Use a sponge to apply the detergent on your dishes. An abrasive cleaning scrub can scratch your plates. Now rinse with normal tap water.

Use Salt and Vinegar

Step 1: Prepare a Mixture of Salt and Vinegar

Mix equal parts of salt and vinegar in a bowl. You can use 1 tbsp. of salt and 1 tbsp. of vinegar per 2 plates, and adjust the measurement according to the number of plates.

Step 2: Soak the Dishes

Apply this paste on the stained area of your dishes. Let it rest on the stains for about 10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse the Paste

Now gently rinse the paste from your dishes under running tap water.

Step 4: Wash With Dishwashing Liquid

Wash your dishes as you normally would using a dishwashing liquid.

Wipe your dishes with a clean, dry cloth before you tuck them back into the kitchen shelf. Your porcelain and ceramic plates should now be as good as new!
