Whether it’s Diwali or Christmas, the festive season is marked by social gatherings and parties. If you love playing the host, you must be looking forward to entertaining yours guests. It is important to clean your house before you get ready to welcome the new year. Given below is how to prepare your home for Christmas, Navratri, Diwali or any other festive season.

1) Floors and Carpets

Run a vacuum cleaner over the rugs and carpets. Liberally sprinkle a handful of baking soda on the carpet to get rid of any foul odours. Ensure that you vacuum the underside of the rugs too. Sweep and mop the floor thoroughly. If you’re cleaning the floor, mop with an effective floor cleaning agent that also has disinfecting properties. We recommend Domex Floor Cleaner, which is available in the market. It kills germs. Check the pack to understand the correct usage instructions and test on a small part first.

2) Kitchen

To clean your kitchen, use a kitchen cleaner. You can try using Nature Protect Surface Spray. A powerful, two-in-one solution, it clean and disinfects. It can be used to clean and disinfect kitchen cabinets and food handling areas. Check the pack to understand the correct usage instructions. Remember to focus in the corners. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub the dirt stuck in the corner areas and wipe down with a clean sponge.

3) Bathroom

Get your bathroom clean and stain free. You can use Cif Bathroom Cleaner that cleans watermarks and soap sediments. Check the pack to understand the correct usage instructions. And always test on a small part to check compatibility. The toilet bowl can be deep cleaned using cleaning agent and long handle angular brush. You can use products like Domex Toilet Cleaner. Follow instructions on the pack for usage and compatible surfaces and always test on a small inconspicuous area first. Do not mix acid and bleach.

4) Social Areas

Clear your living room to make more space for the guests to move around. If you are anticipating guests with little children, move away fragile items like a glass vase. Make cartons to store your fragile items in a secure place.

5) Spare Bedroom

Keep your guest bedroom ready for unexpected sleepovers. Ensure that the bedroom has clean towel and toiletries. Wash the bedsheets and blankets. Treat them with a conditioner so that they are soft and pleasant smelling. You can use a fabric conditioner. It keeps the fibres intact, thus making the fabric soft and smooth. It also adds a mild fragrance to the fabric.

6) Wash Your Dishes

Wash all the utensils and serving bowls with a dishwash gel. For effective results, soak your utensils in a large bucket of lukewarm water mixed with 2-3 tsp. of dishwashing liquid. Then scrub and rinse as usual. It helps loosen any grime and tough stains.

7) Wash the Clothes and Curtains

Give your clothes and curtains a through wash using an effective laundry detergent. If you prefer to wash your clothes in a washing machine, use a liquid detergent which is specially formulated for washing machines.

Expect a lot of traffic in your household during the festive season? Well, keep these tips handy to play the perfect host and throw some memorable parties.

Always wear protective gloves while cleaning. Keep cleaning products away from the reach of children.
