Fighting tough ink stains on your child’s socks need not be difficult if you follow our simple instructions. Here’s how you can quickly erase ink stains from your kids’ school socks at home. These steps work for both cotton and synthetic socks.

Step 1: Prepare a Cleaning Solution

Take a cup of water and add 2 tsp. of liquid detergent to it. Mix well.

Step 2: Apply it on the Stains

Lay the socks on a flat surface and directly apply the cleaning solution on the stained part and rub. Allow the detergent to penetrate into the fabric and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Scrub the Stain

Scrub the stained part thoroughly to lift as much of the ink stain as possible.

Step 4: Soak for 30 Minutes

Fill ½ a bucket of water, add ½ a cup of bleach and 1 tsp. of liquid detergent to it, and mix well. Drop the socks in this solution and let them soak for 30 minutes. Remember to wear rubber gloves when handling bleach.

Step 5: Hand-Wash

Then, rinse and hand-wash the socks with plain water.

Step 6: Rub Vinegar

If the stains persist, rub a few drops of vinegar on the stain. Put the socks in your washing machine and run a regular wash cycle.

Step 7: Dry Them

Dry the socks in sunlight.
