After washing your silver, copper and brass accessories, immediately wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.

1) Silver Idols and coins

Hot Water

In a large steel vessel, pour 2 bowls of water and heat on medium temperature for 2 minutes. Meanwhile, cut a few pieces of aluminium foil and add them to it. Now carefully put your silver idols in the vessel and let the water boil for the next 5 minutes. Turn off the flame and wait for the water to cool. Once the water has fully cooled, take out the silver accessories and wipe clean with a fresh cloth.

Tamarind

Did you know you could use tamarind pulp too? Yes, you can! Take ½ a bowl of water and add a handful of tamarind pieces in it. Soak it for 30 minutes. Use this solution to scrub the silver surfaces with a scrubbing pad. Wait for 5 minutes and wash with plain water.

2) Copper Accessories

Lemon and Salt

If you want to clean those greenish stains from your copper puja accessories, cut a lemon in half, and take 2 tsp. of salt in a plate. Dip the lemon in the salt and use it to scrub the stains. Scrub for 5 minutes and wash with plain water. You will be amazed to see your accessories restore to their original shine!

Vinegar

Another alternative is vinegar. You can use it to clean any type of stains on your copper puja accessories. In a bowl, add 1 cup of vinegar and 4 tsp. of salt. With a scrubbing pad, apply this paste on the entire surface and scrub for 1 minute. Wash with plain water and pat dry.

3) Brass Accessories

To clean or remove stains from your brass accessories like plates, diyas or glasses, take some fresh tomato ketchup in a bowl. Using a clean soft-bristled brush, apply it on copper puja accessories and scrub. Wait for 10 minutes and wash with plain water. Wipe clean with a microfibre cloth.

Now you can offer prayers during Diwali with your sparkling puja set!
