Worried after your children spilt sabudana kheer on their clothes while enjoying a Navratri meal? Don’t let this end their fun, because it’s simple to clean these stains off coloured clothes. Simply follow the steps below.
Step 1:
This first step is needed if the stain is fresh. Take a clean cloth or sponge; even a piece of kitchen roll will do. Gently dab the area of the garment that is stained. This will soak up any excess kheer and make it easier to clean the rest of the garment.
Step 2:
The second step is to soak the garment. This is essential, regardless of whether the stain is fresh or dried out. Soak the coloured garment in 1/2 a bucket of cold water for 10 minutes. The reason why you need to use cold water for a kheer stain is that warm water will cook the milk protein present in the stain and in turn discolour the fabric.

Step 3:
Once you have soaked the garment, you need to pre-treat it before putting it into the washer. Apply a small amount of liquid detergent directly on the stained area. Let it sit for some time before rinsing. You can also use washing powder to pre-treat the stained garment. Make a paste by mixing 1 tbsp. of washing powder with a cup of water. Spread this paste over the stain and let it work its magic before rinsing.
Step 4:
Once you have finished pre-treating the garment, wash it in your washer as you normally would. Always check the care label on the garment for instructions regarding the right temperature to wash at.
There you go! Follow these easy steps, and you can let your children enjoy their sweet dish without any worries!
