Nothing makes your living room look more inviting than a clean, comfortable sofa. But if you have child at home, accidental spills and stains on your sofa are inevitable no matter how cautious you are. Things take an even more dramatic turn if you have a white sofa. However, some stains like sherbet and fruit juice can be easily taken care of. It is a good idea to call for professional help at least once a year. For other times, these tips will come in handy.

1) Leather Sofa

Grab a clean cotton cloth and gently dab the stained area to absorb the sherbet from the sofa. Add 2 tsp. of liquid detergent in a bowl of water and mix well. Soak a soft sponge in this cleaning solution and wipe off the stained area of your sofa.

Next, take 2 bowls of lukewarm water and pour it in a bucket. Use this water to moisten a dry, clean towel. Use this towel to wipe off the cleaning solution from the sofa. Buff the stained area with a dry towel to ensure there are no watermarks left behind.

2) Sofa with Fabric Upholstery

In case of an accidental spill on a white fabric sofa, immediately grab a dry cotton cloth and buff the stained area. The cotton cloth will absorb most of the sherbet spilt on the sofa. Take a bowl and add 2 cups of lukewarm water, 1 cup of vinegar, 1 cup of baking soda and 2 tsp. of rock salt. Mix these ingredients well and transfer this solution into a spray bottle.

Now, spray the solution on the stained area and gently pat the solution with a microfibre cloth. You may also have to spray the solution on the microfibre cloth and press the cloth onto the stained area multiple times. This is one of the simplest ways to get rid of sherbet stains and smell from your sofa in minutes. Once the sherbet stain has disappeared, pat-dry the stained area with a clean, dry cloth.

Well, you have just cleaned your sofa like a pro. There’s no need to frown the next time your child spills sherbet on the sofa, because you know exactly what to do.
