Diwali is the festival of sweets, savouries and celebrations! Often, preparing these delicious snacks leaves your kitchen in a mess.
Try these tips to clean your kitchen after you’ve made Diwali snacks.
1) Stainless Steel Utensils
To clean the steel utensils, you used to make the snacks, use a solution of 1 cup of warm water, 2 tsp. of dishwashing liquid and 1 tsp. of vinegar. Use a scouring pad, scrub the utensils thoroughly and rinse off with water. For any tough stains, drop the utensils in a tub of warm water and wait for 30 minutes. Then repeat the same cleaning process.
Remove food crumbs from your kitchen countertop with the help of a rag. Take a bowl of warm water, add 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid and mix. Dip a clean cloth in this solution, wring out excess water and wipe the entire surface clean. Repeat the process, if needed. Pat dry with a clean, dry cloth.
3) Gas Stove
To remove the oil accumulated on your gas stove, prepare a mixture of 1 cup water, 2 tsp. of lemon juice and 3-4 drops of dishwashing liquid. The lemon juice will cut through the grease and oil, while the dishwashing liquid will lift it right off. Pour this directly over the affected area and wait for 10 minutes (make sure that none of this solution enters the gas burners, or it could damage them). Then scrub with a dish scrubber and wipe with a clean rag.
To remove any grease stains from your kitchen tiles, combine 2 tsp. vinegar and 1 tsp. baking soda in a cup of lukewarm water. Pour in a spray bottle and use it on the affected areas. Wait for 10 minutes. On a scratch-free scrubbing pad, take 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid and start scrubbing. Wipe using a circular motion; start from top to bottom. Lay towels on the platform to absorb the water that drips down. Wipe clean with a clean cloth.
To clean a greasy kitchen sink, evenly sprinkle 1 tbsp. of baking soda over it. Wait for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, create a cleaning solution by adding 1 tbsp. of dishwashing liquid in 1 cup of lukewarm water. With a scrubbing pad, thoroughly scrub the entire area and wash with plain water.
To clean your chimney, add 2 tsp. of tamarind pulp to a cup of water, and wait for an hour. Mix the solution well. Use a clean sponge dampened in this solution, and thoroughly clean the surface. After you’re done with cleaning, take another clean sponge dampened in plain water and wipe off all traces of the tamarind pulp.
