Your sneakers bear the onslaught of sweat, and rain and sludge if you’re an outdoor runner. But we’ve got amazing tips to help you keep them smelling fresh!

1) Fabric Softener
Pour ½ a tsp. of fabric softener on to two medium-sized cotton balls and place one in each shoe. Let them sit overnight and take them out in the morning, before wearing your shoes. This will leave your shoes smelling great!
2) Essential Oils
In a bowl, combine ½ a cup of water and add 7-8 drops of your favourite essential oil, or a blend different oils. You could use a combination of peppermint and tea tree essential oil; it works well! Pour the solution into a spray bottle, shake well and spray this inside your shoes. If you don’t want to spray it directly in your shoes for fear of leaving them moist, spray it on cotton balls and place these inside your shoes. Take them out in the morning before wearing your sneakers and you’re good to go!
3) Black Tea
Did you know you can use black tea too? Steep two tea bags in hot water for 3-4 minutes. Take them out and let them cool. Once cooled, put these in your sports shoes, one in each, for 30-45 minutes. After you remove them, take a clean cloth and wipe the moisture from inside your shoes.
