Christmas is almost here! And with it come festivities, dinners and dances. So, while you get ready to go ‘Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square’, you need to suit up and look your festive best. You would want your suit to look clean, wrinkle-free and smelling fresh when you attend Christmas Mass or a party. Here are a few useful tips to help you out.

Before hanging your suit, lay it flat on the ironing board and gently clean with a garment brush to remove dirt and lint.

1) Spot Cleaning

Dry cleaning your suit frequently is not recommended. It can damage the natural fibres and make your suit look dull. A quick spot-cleaning is better to get your suit clean and ready. Take a bowl of water, add 1 tsp. of mild detergent and mix well. Take a few drops of this solution and gently rub on the stained area with your hands. Then, use a clean sponge to get rid of the excess moisture.

2) Hang Your Suit

Always hang your suits and avoid folding them to prevent damage to their shape and structure. Use a strong, wooden hanger with rounded edges to hang your suits. This will help fill out the jacket shoulders nicely and maintain the original shape of your suit. Also, a wooden hanger is durable and won’t rust.

3) Add Fragrance

You don’t want to wear a suit that smells unpleasant. A potpourri sachet will help keep your suits smelling fresh. In a bowl, combine a few cloves, cinnamon sticks, dried flower petals, fennel seeds and dried sage leaves. In another bowl, mix ½ a cup of water and 5-6 drops of your favourite essential oil. Sprinkle this solution lightly over the potpourri mixture. Now, lay a cloth on a flat surface, place the potpourri mixture on it and secure the ends with a rubber band. Hang or place the potpourri sachet in your wardrobe near your suit to keep it smelling fresh. Remember to hang the potpourri sachet near your suit, but not touching it.

There you go! Follow these tips to look and feel your best in your Christmas suit!
